This Privacy Policy explains what data Closet ("the app") collects, how that data is used, and what rights you have over it. Closet is a personal fragrance collection tracker that also lets you compare your collection with friends in private groups.

Effective date: August 6, 2026. By creating an account and using Closet, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

• Account data: your email address, display name, and — if you choose to add one — a profile photo.
• Profile data: optional details you add yourself, such as your signature scent and a short bio.
• Fragrance collection data: the brand and name of each bottle, price paid, bottle size, scent family, brand tier, season tags, occasion tags, wear logs with timestamps, and any photos you upload for AI identification.
• Group data: the groups you create or join, your group memberships, and the leaderboard rankings that are calculated relative to other members of those groups.

Photos uploaded purely for AI identification are used to fill in the fragrance details and are not needed afterwards; the app stores the resulting fragrance record and, where available, a product image from a third-party catalogue instead.

• To operate the core features of the app: collection tracking, wear logging, the four ranking scores, milestone badges, group leaderboards, and group comparisons.
• To improve the accuracy of fragrance identification over time, so that names, brands, tiers and price estimates become more reliable.

Your data is not sold, and it is not used for advertising. Collection details are visible to other members only through the group leaderboards and comparisons you take part in.

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting for your account and collection records.
• Anthropic's Claude API — analyses uploaded fragrance photos and text to identify the brand, name, scent family, tier and other details.
• Fragella API — looks up fragrance catalogue data and product images using the identified fragrance. Only the fragrance name and brand are sent; no personal data is included.
• Frankfurter API — provides daily currency exchange rates for display conversion. No personal data is sent.

Each of these providers has its own privacy practices governing how it handles data sent to it. Please review their policies if you would like to understand their handling in detail.

Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active, so that your collection, wear history, badges and rankings stay intact. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting [PLACEHOLDER: your email].

• access the personal data held about you;
• request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
• request deletion of your account and the data associated with it;
• object to the processing of your personal data.

Reasonable technical measures are used to protect user data, including authenticated access and database-level access rules that restrict records to their owner and their groups. However, no system is 100% secure, and this policy does not guarantee absolute security.
